2016 Hallum Scholarship Recipient Named
Congratulations to Erica Urban the first Roger Hallum Memorial Scholarship recipient. Pictured below are Jolene Stratton Philo (class of 1974), Randy Hallum, Erica Urban (class of 2016) and Kourtney Hallum Ferrua after the scholarship awards ceremony on May 18, 2016.
Roger Hallum, high school drama and speech coach, inspired a generation of Le Mars Community High School students during the 1970s. His former students created the Roger Hallum Scholarship Fund to honor his memory and his unflagging belief that high school students are responsible young adults able to create quality performance art when entrusted with great responsibility. The founders’ lives were profoundly influenced by Hallum’s wisdom, humor, and faith in their abilities, and they want to pass along his confidence in young people to today’s LCHS graduates. The scholarship fund is available to Le Mars Community High School graduating seniors who are pursuing a college degree in the creative arts. The fund is administered by the Le Mars Community School District Foundation. Donations are tax deductible and may be sent to the following address:
